Changes to SA0 and SA1 printable boarding passes
Beginning Wednesday, June 12, employees, eligible enrolled friends, retirees and any accompanying persons traveling on space-available passes (SA0 and SA1) will no longer be able to print their boarding passes at airport lobby kiosks when traveling domestically. Boarding passes will be available on the United app or united.com.

What you need to know:

- All other kiosk functionality will remain the same when pass traveling (checking in, adding bags, printing bag tags, etc.), but the option to print a paper boarding pass will be disabled.

- If you are unable to utilize the United app or united.com, agents will still be able to print boarding passes in the lobby.

- Kiosks located post-security will also still print boarding passes.

Limiting paper boarding passes means reducing waste and driving usage of our industry-best digital products, including the United app.  The app provides a better customer experience—customers who use it on their travel journey give us an NPS score 17 points higher than customers who don’t. Plus, the app has tools to self-serve for IRROPS recovery, bag tracking, and more.  This change will be expanded in the future to additional boarding priorities, including eligible international flights.

United Kingdom APD (GB) tax refund for connecting passengers
Effective immediately, United is no longer able to provide refunds for the U.K. APD (GB) tax for pass travelers connecting from another airline to United at any U.K. airport (EDI and LHR). For additional details on the requirements to claim the connecting passenger exemption, visit the Air Passenger Duty and connected flights GOV.UK page.

Retiree enrolled friend changes deadline
The deadline for you to make changes to your enrolled friends for the Jul. 1 - Dec. 31, 2024 travel period is Friday, June 28 (until 11:59 p.m. CT).  There is a helpful page on Flying Together with lots of details and a video on how to make changes if you need to.  Click here to go to the page on Flying Together.  If you don’t want to make any changes, you do not need to take any action. Current enrolled friends will automatically roll over to the next travel period, just like your spouse/domestic partner, children and parents do. Keep in mind, once a new travel period begins, your current enrolled friends can be removed but cannot be replaced within the same travel period. Exception request will not be accepted once the deadline passes.
